Glimmeren never liked to draw attention to herself. A tinkerer known for efficiency, reliability, and - most importantly- silence, she spent her day fixing whatever was brought to her, reverse engineering missing parts, slicing stolen hardware, making timers for... well, nevermind. She rarely left her workshop- preferring to focus on whatever new toys fell her way- clockwork parts, damaged tesla gloves, a partially-restored 77 Chevy Cordoba- stuff that won't notice her scars or ask about her missing arm. Stuff that won't make her recap the story behind the blast. Stuff that won't ask whose fault it was.
That was before her last batch of scrap and the strange power source that she's wired into her clockwork-prosthetic. She's putting it to use on the treets-- driven, it seems, by something recovered on its salvaged data chip. Silent as ever, though, she's not saying what she found.
Glimmerin was very "City of Heroes- Going Rogue" inspired. I hadn't yet played through the new content, so I wanted a character that had some moral grey area- that could be either resistance or loyalist or both. Someone whose past could be retconned.
Glimmerin's chestpiece is a shoulder harness prosthetic salvaged from a clockwork- not a cybernetic. The robot arm there has its own AI that anticipates her needs, responds to subvocal commands, and provides replies and info onto her visor. It really is its own entity, and will even occasionally argue with her over the best course of action- part nanny, part confidante, part counselor. Maybe even a little bit of a subliminal messenger.
In game mechanics' terms, she was a Kinetic melee / Shield brute. The energy source powering her glove could vent plasma into the palm of her robot hand, and the AI controlling that hand could use the magnets within it to briefly ontain that plasma until it could be channeled into an attack. The powerset's combat animations worked well as the "containment" actions of the glove. Her good arm sported a shielded gauntlet like the PPD used but "overclocked" to take advantage of the power source she nabbed. The brute's gradual increase in damage output reflected her "warm up period" before she really started channeling the plasma effectively.
The character was fun to play, but she never made it past the mid-30's. Once she left Praetoria for Paragon, much of what defined the character seemed to fall away, as many of my Praetorian alts did. They just didn't transition well once they were forced to abandon their homeworld.
